Reversal Rings V: Finale by Morpheus

submitted by admin - Jun 7, 2002

Doug, trying to make up with Susan, unknowingly purchases the missing rings as a gift to her. When the dust settles he might have made a mistake in doing this.

I know that some of you have been waiting for the return of Kevin and Susan from the first story. Well, here it is. This will probably be the last Reverse Rings story, so I hope you enjoy. This story has adult content in it. If you are under 18 or dislike such material, please go no further.

Kevin stared into the mirror, at the reflection of a beautiful woman looking back. The reflection was his own mother, and the one that he'd been stuck with for the last several months. Ever since his birthday when those magic rings made him and his Mom trade bodies.

Sadly Kevin reflected on what had happened, how he selfishly had kept one of the rings hidden, until it disappeared for real, leaving him and his Mom both trapped. On top of that, his best friend Jamie was taken to some mental hospital just a couple weeks afterwards, and Kevin hadn't seen him since.

Pulling himself away from the mirror, Kevin finished getting dressed, then lit a cigarette, taking a deep pull on it. He thought it was ironic since he used to hate cigarette smoke, but then everything else had changed to.

At first, his Mom had kept up writing her children's books, though on a much slower pace, but then she stopped, making Kevin have to take over. He found that he had a knack for writing too, though his were a little different. Between the few children's books they'd managed to put out, and the royalties from previous books and that cartoon series based off of one of his Moms series, they were doing very well financially.

Kevin still felt guilty about their change, but had gotten used to being his Mom. He still was a bit disgusted at the periods, and missed some of his old hobbies and friends, but he had adapted. So had his Mom, though not quite as well. She had given up all hope it seemed, and slid into Kevin's old life, though she was a better behaved "Kevin" than he ever was.

Rubbing the bruise on his upper arm, Kevin was glad that he'd finally gotten rid of Doug. He'd hated Doug when he was in his own body, but once he became his Mom, he'd found that Doug was very good in bed. He'd felt guilty about keeping Doug around since the change, knowing how bad Doug was treating his Mom in his body, and yesterday he'd finally argued with Doug about it.

It hadn't been a pretty argument, but then again, they'd had a number of arguments in the last few months. This one though was the last straw. Doug had actually hit his Mom, and had grabbed him roughly by the arm. He kicked Doug out, and said he never wanted to see him again.

Kevin smiled at the memory, feeling relieved to have finally gotten rid of that bastard. He hoped he never saw him again.

Doug stormed along the street, fuming. "That BITCH" he snarled. "I can't believe that bitch dumped me. Its not like I needed her or that brat of hers" Angry, Doug kicked out at a passing dog that yelped in response. But damn, he thought, she sure was good in bed.

After a little while, Doug's temper relaxed a little. He began trying to think of ways to get that "bitch" back. He didn't really care much about her, but his pride wasn't going to let him just be dumped by her. "It's over, only when I say its over" he told himself.

Stopping in front of a pawn shop, Doug decided that waiting a few days would calm things down a bit more, then he could give her some present. She'd beg him to come back to her. Doug smiled, liking the thought. "Now", he muttered, "What to get her"

Stepping inside the pawn shop, Doug saw the usually pile of cheap junk and nick knacks. A balding fat guy with a mustache sat behind the counter, looking at a few rings sitting on the counter. Doug only gave him a glancing look, but then something caught his eye.

He noticed two rings that the fat man was cleaning. They didn't look very special or anything, but for some reason, he knew that these were what he wanted. He asked the fat man to look at them, and held them up to the light. They were a matched set, both looking the same.

They didn't look real expensive, and were fairly simple, both being straight gold colored bands, with a few light etchings and lines around them. They felt good in his hands. Smiling, Doug asked, "How much?"

The fat man scratched his head, thinking about it. "Both of them for fifty bucks"

"I only want one of them"

"Too bad. They come as a set. Both, or nothin"

"Damn" Doug swore. Too damn expensive. Reluctantly, he paid for the rings, figuring that he could get the money back from Susan after they got back together. It was more than he wanted, but he'd find some way to use the second ring. Stomping out of the store, goods in hand, Doug was complaining to himself how expensive those rings were. "That bitch had better appreciate this"

As Doug left the pawn shop, he didn't notice the fat man start laughing, then shimmer behind him, changing into an old man, wearing a worn robe. The Old man chuckled, then disappeared, while a small rat scampering across the floor suddenly changed back into the fat shop proprietor, not remembering or realizing that anything odd had happened.

Susan was getting home from school, and ran into the house, looking for something to eat. School had been bad enough the first time, but having to go through it again was even worse. At first she'd been pretty pissed off about being stuck this way, in her own sons body, but she'd gotten used to it. Now she just took things one day at a time, trying not to think about it anymore.

She had been a little uncomfortable though, when she realized that she kept staring at the breasts of some girl in school. She couldn't believe how much they attracted her eyes, and she hated herself for this, knowing just what it felt like to get those stares. Finally she knew what boys saw in breasts, and she wasn't too happy about this new knowledge. "God help me" she thought, "I'm even getting a crush on that girl in history"

Waving hello to Kevin, her new "Mom" she went straight for the fridge to find something to eat. God she felt hungry. She'd gotten used to the huge appetite she had, but still couldn't quite believe how much she ate all the time.

At least, she was happy that Doug was finally gone. She hadn't known what a bastard he was before the change, but now kept getting a clear view of it. Stuffing a cookie into her mouth, she wondered what ever happened to those rings.

She'd tried several times to go back to the shop in the mall and find the guy who sold those rings to her, but the shop wasn't there. She couldn't find a trace of it, and had eventually given up. When she'd last seen the old guy, he'd told her only the rings could fix things, but she'd still held onto some hopes. At least for a short while.

Taking a drink of milk, she considered whether or not she should ask Brandy, that girl in history out for a date. "I'm stuck as a guy now, so should probably start dating girls" Susan shuddered, still not sure about it, but Kevin had already adapted, and seemed happy for it. And she sure as hell couldn't argue with her teenage male hormones.

Doug waited a couple days for Susan to call him back, then finally gave up. He knew that she wouldn't be able to resist his charm, so got ready and wrapped one of the rings up a little. He wasn't sure what to do with the other one, so slipped it onto his own finger. He sure wasn't about to give that bitch two presents.

After making sure he looked all right, he went over to Susan's place, confident that he'd have her in bed again that night. He knocked on the door, but didn't bother to wait for an answer, and went right in. He saw that punk kid of Susan's glaring at him, but just pushed past that Kevin kid and went to see her.

Finding her in the living room, Doug gave a big grin. "Hey baby, I'm sorry" he said, sounding like a used car salesman (which, by the way, he was), "I've got something for you"

Kevin, in Susan's body just glared at Doug, "Get your ass out of here, now" she demanded.

"Hold your horses" Doug said holding out the small box he'd wrapped the ring in. Curious, Kevin took it from him and unwrapped it.

His eyes widened and his mouth dropped as he pulled the familiar ring out of the box. He was stunned, unable to believe this. "Where did you get this ring" Kevin demanded of Doug.

Doug grinned, now sure that his present had worked and won her back. "I picked it up at a little store, and thought you'd like it"

Kevin's eyes narrowed, and his hands shook in excitement as he clutched the ring tightly in his palm. Nervously he pulled a cigarette out of his purse, and put it in his mouth, while he lit it. After he'd taken a deep drag, he turned back to Doug, and asked where the store was.

Doug avoided answering, not wanting to admit that he'd picked it up out of a pawn shop.

Reluctantly, Kevin went into the kitchen and showed the ring to his Mom, who was equally surprised to see it. They agreed that they needed to find out as much as possible about that store from Doug, so were going to play nice with him.

Susan brought Doug out a beer, while Kevin kept trying to bring up the subject again. Several hours and a number of beers later, Doug was drunk enough that they managed to have him tell them where the pawn shop was. Relieved, they were glad that they were done, but weren't sure what to do with the now drunk Doug.

They settled for Kevin convincing Doug to go home, which wasn't easy. Finally after Doug was gone, they hugged each other, crying tears of joy. They finally had some hope left of getting their own lives back.

The next day, they went to the pawn shop that Doug had told them about, and looked carefully through all the jewelry for sale. The fat man behind the counter said he didn't remember selling any rings that looked like the one Kevin showed him, or even having any in stock. Reluctantly, Kevin and Susan left the pawn shop, wondering what to do next.

Kevin thought it was too much to hope that both rings would be together. He'd hid one ring, and it vanished from where he'd hidden it. His Mom had kept the other ring in his old room, but it disappeared as well. They had no idea where either of the rings had disappeared to, so the return of one of the rings was almost a miracle.

They weren't sure what to do next, but both of them had a lot to think about. There was a possibility of perhaps getting their old lives back, if they could find that other ring.

Sitting around the living room, Kevin and Susan silently stared at each other, trying to remember when they lived in the others body, and wondering what it would be like to go back. Kevin wondered what it would be like to go to school again, and date pretty girls. It seemed like it had been so long since he was last a normal teenage boy.

Susan stared at her old face as well, thinking how nice her old face was. She wondered what it would be like, to go back to monthly periods, after having this break from them. She chuckled at the though, thinking that it shouldn't be much different than going back after her pregnancy was over.

Idly, Susan played with the ring in her hands, wondering where the other might be. Absently, she slipped it onto one of her fingers, and felt the tingling. Suddenly her world shifted again. She felt the wave of dizziness that she'd felt only once before, then found herself staring at a TV.

She looked around confused, seeing her surroundings weren't what they were. She smiled, knowing that someone else was wearing the ring, and that they'd found them. She stood up, and recognized the place, getting a bad feeling. She felt slightly fuzzy headed, and realized that whomever she was had been drinking.

Stumbling to a mirror, she looked in, and was shocked to see Doug looking back at her.

Kevin noticed his Mom, suddenly collapse, then saw that she'd put the ring on. His old body sat up, looking very confused, then stared right at him.

"Susan?" his old voice asked him, "What are you doing here?"

Kevin had a very bad feeling about this.

After seeing Doug's face in the mirror, Susan smiled. "That bastard. He must have stolen the rings from us while over at the house" She pulled off the ring from the finger, and looked at it, then slipped it back on.

Seconds later, she was again in Kevin's body, sitting across from Kevin, who was looking at her in concern. Quickly she pulled the ring off, and set it on the table. Smiling, she told Kevin where the other ring was.

They started making plans on how they could get the ring away from Doug, but the next day Uncle Nick stopped by, leaving his 2 year old daughter Katie with them, for the night, saying that he had an important meeting and no sitter. Kevin agreed to take his cousin/niece, though was rather disappointed since he had plans with Doug. Those would have to wait another day though.

Being Saturday, Susan didn't have to go to school, and that would have made it a perfect time to have gotten the ring back, but they spent most of it watching Katie instead. Kevin found himself having to keep Katie out of trouble, and being quite a handful, that kept him very busy. Susan helped a little, but mostly hid out in her, his old room.

As Kevin was cooking dinner up, he had to pick Katie out of the way again, and desperately wished that Susan would help him. He didn't have enough hands to watch her, and cook dinner at the same time. Susan certainly had been acting like a teenage boy lately, even dodging responsibility and not helping out much. Kevin sighed, and went back to preparing dinner.

Just as Kevin had finished setting up the table, and called Susan down to eat, Doug walked in. He didn't make any mention of the change, so Kevin thought he probably didn't remember it being drunk, or just passed it off as some dream. Kevin bit down his annoyance as Doug walked in and grabbed a beer out of their fridge. "What are you doing here?" Kevin asked him, trying to control his temper.

Doug ignored him, and just held his beer up drinking it. A glint caught his eye, and Kevin noticed that Doug had the ring on. Doug slammed the beer down and grabbed Kevin, pulling him up and kissing him. Kevin pulled himself away, getting angrier. Doug was always an asshole, but he'd pushed himself too far. Kevin glared at Doug, and a malicious thought crossed his mind.

Just as Susan walked in, obviously unhappy to see Doug, Kevin called, "Katie, come here" and picked the little girl up. He nodded to Susan, who handed him the ring. Kevin smiled at Doug. "I'm sorry about this Katie", he said, then slipped the ring on Katie's finger.

Doug's body fell to the ground, and sat up again a few seconds later, looking very confused. He started to cry, and Kevin could barely keep himself from laughing at the image of Doug's adult body crying. Susan started comforting Katie, who was now stuck in Doug's body.

Kevin grinned down at Doug, now in Katie's small body, then pulled the ring from Doug's tiny finger. Kevin loved the look of absolute horror and confusion on Katie's little face, as Doug realized that he'd somehow traded bodies with a two year old girl. Kevin loved it. Looking over at Katie, he only hoped that this experience wouldn't harm her little mind. She was probably young enough that if she didn't stay like this long, he didn't think she'd even remember it.

Susan took the horrified Doug from Kevin's hands, and put him into Katie's play pen, which made him furious. He screamed at them, but wasn't able to make very many clear words using Katie's undeveloped vocal chords.

Kevin felt bad about doing this to Katie, but thought it was worth it, catching Doug like that. They sat Katie into one of the chairs and sat eating. She enjoyed being able to sit with the grown ups, and was giggling as she ate. Susan went for Doug, and gave him some baby food that was left for Katie, which he tried to refuse to eat, but his hunger wouldn't let him.

After a short while, Doug kept yawning, and they left him in the play pen, where he fell asleep, fighting it the whole time.

Susan and Kevin were both overjoyed, having the rings back. Susan stared at Doug's body, sitting on the floor, playing with some of Katie's toys. She looked over at Kevin in her own body, who was cleaning up the kitchen. She realized just how much he was moving like she did. He was moving as if he'd always been female, and she knew that she'd been moving as if born male for some time.

They hadn't talked about changing back yet, but by silent agreement, knew that it would be soon. Holding one of the rings in her hand, Susan walked over and picked the other off the counter where Kevin had absently laid it. She rolled both of them in her palms, enjoying the feel.

Smiling, she walked over to Katie, and slipped one of the rings on Katie's fingers. Katie accepted the ring, looking at it curiously for a moment, then going back to playing. Susan slipped the other ring onto her own finger, feeling the sudden dizziness again. She looked at her hands, seeing the toys in them, then stood up, looking at Kevin's body, that had a confused look on it. Katie, went back to her playing, not seeming to care that she was in yet another different body.

Susan felt kind of odd, since she'd gotten used to Kevin's body, but stretched, and looked down at herself. She looked over at Doug sleeping in the play pen, then went into the kitchen to surprise Kevin.

Kevin was washing dishes, slightly annoyed since that was Susan's job. He'd cooked, but she was keeping an eye on Doug and Katie now, so he didn't complain. He was surprised to suddenly find hands coming from behind him and holding his breasts. He turned around in surprise, seeing Doug there. For a second, he was horrified, thinking that Doug had gotten his body back, and now wanted revenge.

"Don't worry, Kevin, its me." He heard Susan say in Doug's voice. He was stunned, and stood staring. Susan continued, "Since we were going to change back, I wanted to see, just once, what it was like to have sex as a man" She smiled at him, and Kevin felt slightly uneasy. "I feel odd since you're in my body, but I'm in Doug's, and these two bodies have done it so many times, this isn't going to be wrong" She was trying to convince herself as much as Kevin at this point.

Kevin gulped, and let his Mom, in Doug's body lead him upstairs. They went into the bedroom, and both stripped. Kevin felt uneasy as his mom started to rub his breasts, but it felt good. It was almost like it always was when he slept with Doug.

But Kevin couldn't go through with it, and after several minutes, pulled himself away. "I just don't feel right doing it with you" he said. Susan was disappointed, but understood. Reluctantly, she got dressed again, and they went back downstairs.

Since she was in an adult body again, Susan poured herself a drink, then another one for Kevin. They sat on the couch drinking a little bourbon, looking across at each other. After several glasses, Susan felt her new penis start getting hard when she looked at her old body. God she used to be hot, she thought.

She become more determined to see what it was like to have sex as a man before she changed back, and made sure that Kevin had a little more too drink. When she was sure that Kevin was drunk too, she went over and kissed him deeply on the lips. He resisted for a second, then gave in, forgetting who he was kissing.

Once again, Susan led Kevin upstairs to the bedroom, and this time he didn't resist, being too drunk to keep remembering that it was his own mother he was with, and feeling too good to care.

Susan started rubbing her old breasts, enjoying the feel of them, then licking the nipples. Since it was her own body, she knew just what buttons to push, and slowly worked her way down, and started licking what used to be her slit. Kevin was moaning in pleasure, as Susan carefully put her new penis into Kevin's pussy, and pumped in.

God, Susan was amazed at how it felt from this end. She loved it. She came, and it was all focused on that one spot. When they were finished, Susan laid next to Kevin, feeling exhausted. She quickly drifted off to sleep.

In the morning, they sat across from each other at the table, both drinking cups of coffee while Kevin smoked a cigarette. They both felt a bit guilty for their actions the night before, though, Kevin couldn't forget how good it felt as well, and kept thinking back to it.

Susan felt guilty for taking advantage of Kevin that way, knowing that it was wrong. She'd enjoyed the experience immensely though, which left her a little scared.

Finally, Susan used the rings to trade back with Katie, who was cheerfully watching cartoons, and once again in Kevin's familiar body, she went to see him. Looking at him, she didn't feel the lust for him that she'd felt as Doug, and thought that was interesting, but definitely for the best. The situation was bad enough, and they didn't need to add any real incest to it.

They looked over at Doug, and decided to leave him that way for a few hours more. He sat staring at the TV as well from the corner of his play pen. As if the cartoon Katie was watching was just as interesting to him. Kevin chuckled, noticing how much like Katie, Doug was already acting.

Kevin and Susan looked at each other, both nodding. Kevin took one last drag on his cigarette, then snubbed it out in the ashtray. They both picked one of the rings up, and stared at each other, then at the rings. Both slipped the rings on their fingers at the same time.

Kevin felt the horrible wrenching at his very being and dizziness that he'd felt only once before, then opened his eyes, to see the reflection that had been looking back at him for months, sitting across from him. Experimentally he said "It works" finding his own voice coming out of his throat rather odd, after getting used to his Mom's.

He stood up, feeling rather uncomfortable, with his penis and testicles back. He'd gotten used to being without them, and found them very noticeable. He knew that this would fade as he readjusted to his body though. He looked over at his Mom who was equally uncomfortable in her own body. She looked down at her breasts and held them for a few seconds, then grabbed the pack of cigarettes and pulled one out.

Kevin started coughing as his Mom lit her cigarette and blew the smoke out. Even though he'd been smoking for several months, the cigarette smoke smelled vile to him again. He laughed though as she started choking as well. It took her several more puffs before she got used to smoking again. She didn't quite look like she enjoyed it as much either.

He stretched, trying to get used to his own balance again. They both walked around, trying to get used to being themselves again. When they stopped in front of the play pen, seeing Doug inside, looking and even acting, just like a toddler, they wondered what they were going to do about him.

Once they changed him back, they knew he would cause them problems, and they certainly couldn't leave Katie in his body. That was out of the question. Somehow, Susan thought that the Old Man at that shop might be able to help. She wasn't quite sure why, but she decided to head over to the mall, leaving Kevin to watch Doug and Katie.

Getting behind the wheel of her car, she stared at things for a bit, trying to remember how to drive. She was a little clumsy for a few minutes until she got used to it again, then drove to the mall.

She wasn't surprised to find the store she was looking for right away, with the sign above the door saying Spells R Us. Nervously, she stepped inside, seeing the same cluttered store she saw the last time she was there, though a few things were different. Mostly a few small things seemed to be gone from the shelves, and she noticed a few newer things for sale as well.

The Old Man stepped out from behind the counter, saying "Hello Susan. What can I do for you today?"

She smiled at him, not bothering to ask him how he knew it was her back in that body again. She explained about their problems with Doug. She told him how they'd rather foolishly involved him directly for petty revenge, and how they were afraid of what he'd do after getting back.

The Old Man thought about it for a minute, then went back behind the counter and pulled out a small box. He opened it up, showing several small bottles and vials of various colored liquids, then carefully pulled one out. He held it up to the light, then handed it over to Susan.

She held it up to the light, seeing the transparent reddish fluid inside. It didn't look like very much at all. She looked at the Old Man curiously.

"Give this to Katie to drink" He told her.

Susan wondered how giving some drink to Katie would solve their problem with Doug.

"After she drinks it, change them back. That will solve your problem. The Old Man turned around, and started cleaning some metal necklace.

"Uh", Susan started, not wanting to interrupt the Old Man. "How much is this?"

Without turning back to her, the Old Man said "Fifteen Dollars" Susan felt a bit nervous, wanting to leave, so left the money on the counter and walked out, happy that she'd had exact change.

As she was walking out of the mall, Susan saw a gorgeous blonde woman walking by, and couldn't help but stare at the womans generous breasts, and thinking how gorgeous this woman was. Her cheeks turned red in embarrassment as she caught herself thinking this. How could she. She was in her own body again, but was still attracted to women, and that one was like a teenage boys wet dream. And she knew that one for a fact.

Susan walked on feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, trying to keep her eyes off this woman, not noticing that this over-endowed blonde had a shopping bag that said Spells R Us on the side.

Kevin finished cleaning up a bit while his Mom was gone. He'd been doing it for several months now, so went ahead, even though he was back in his own body. He had a hard time keeping track of Katie, who now in Doug's larger body, was even more of a handful, and able to get into a lot more stuff. Kevin groaned, trying to get Katie to put down the ceramic statuette she was playing with, without letting it get broken.

Doug was pretty easy to handle. Kevin just left him in the play pen, which of course left him angry, but Kevin didn't particularly care at the moment. At one point, Kevin almost forgot he was back in his own body, when he picked up a pack of cigarettes, but caught himself before lighting it. He felt rather stupid since he didn't smoke. Or at least didn't while in his own body.

Only an hour after she left, his Mom got back. It seemed like longer to Kevin, who'd been kept rather busy by the adult sized two year old.

Susan told Kevin what the Old Man had said, and they tried getting Katie to drink the potion. It took several tries since she wasn't interested, but Kevin told her that it was candy, and she couldn't have any. Of course, she then wanted some. After she drank it all from the small vial, she winced, saying "Yucky"

Kevin put the ring on her finger, while Susan grabbed the struggling Doug, and slipped the ring on his tiny fingers, hoping they weren't making a mistake. Katie collapsed to the ground, while the small Doug stopped struggling.

A few seconds later, Doug stood up, looking horribly confused. "What, you do to me?" he asked, sounding childish" Kevin stood back, nervous that Doug would attack, but Doug showed no signs of violence, seeming instead, only confused.

After several nervous seconds, Kevin and Susan both noticed that Doug was noticeably smaller. They stared in awe as he started shrinking, getting smaller and smaller. He seemed to be getting younger at the same time, and his clothes seemed to be shrinking with him.

They glanced at each other, surprised, wondering what was going on. After a minute, their questions were answered as Doug stood in front of them, an exact copy of Katie. He not only looked like the little girl, but was dressed just like her.

Susan and Kevin looked at each other again, unsure what to do with a second Katie. Surely her dad would notice if there were two of her.

An hour later, Susan's brother Nick showed up to pick up his daughter. He walked in, smiling. "So, how are my daughters doing?" Susan and Kevin both felt confused as he bent over, hugging both little girls. "Katie and Danni, my lovely twin daughters" he said smiling.

As Uncle Nick took the two little girls away, Kevin was in awe of the magic that could do this. It didn't just change Doug, but changed Uncle Nicks memories. And Kevin had no doubt that other people would remember Danni as always being Katie's sister.

After everyone was gone, Kevin and Susan again sat uncomfortably looking at each other. They certainly couldn't go back to the way they used to be. Too much had happened for them to act that way, like a normal Mother and Son.

"Shit" Kevin said, suddenly remembering that he'd have to go to school in the morning. "I haven't been to school in months. I hope there's no tests this week"

Susan laughed, "Now you know how I felt when I was dumped into the middle of your classes" Kevin had to chuckle along, still a little worried.

Susan looked down, noticing that they were both still wearing the rings. She pulled hers off, and looked at it, leaving it on the table. She thought about what it would be like now that she had her own life back. Oddly, she had mixed feelings about that. On one hand, she was glad, but on the other, she felt a little sad. She'd made plans when she thought she was going to stay Kevin.

Kevin had gotten up and went upstairs to take a shower, while Susan just stared at the ring. She laughed, and slid the ring on, just wanting to make sure it still worked. A few seconds later, after the dizziness, she laughed, finding herself half undressed in the bedroom she'd spent so much time in lately.

Going back downstairs, she laughed at the glare Kevin gave her. "I just wanted to make sure it would still work" she said still laughing. "We can change back in a minute."

Susan stared at her old body, and felt a little depressed. When Kevin asked her what was wrong, she started blushing, feeling extremely embarrassed. "I had a date Tuesday with Brandy from history class" She still kept thinking about how cute that girl was, which made her more embarrassed. Kevin couldn't keep from laughing, seeing how embarrassed his Mom was about the date.

Kevin knew the girl, and kind of liked her, but not as much as his Mom apparently did. He thought about it for a minute, then surprised Susan with his suggestion. "We can always change for the date, so you can still go", He felt embarrassed about it himself, for suggesting that they trade again, after finally getting back to normal. At least a few minutes ago.

Susan thought about it too, surprised, but finding the idea attractive for some reason. They could change back for the date, but she knew she shouldn't. By then she probably wouldn't even be interested anymore.

They stared across at each other, each considering this. Susan found that she had a few friends in school, and enjoyed being with Brandy. She wasn't sure about this.

Kevin was equally unsure. He didn't want to go back to being treated like nobody because he was a teen, and liked the respect and responsibility he got as an adult. But at the same time, he kind of wanted to be a kid again, to have fun.

"Till the end of the school year?" Susan suggested. It sounded so tempting. Kevin reached out and shook his Moms hand. They both smiled at each other. Since they still had the rings, they could change back and forth anytime they wanted, giving both of them a freedom.

Susan was going to stay as Kevin for school, until the end of the school year, but they could change back and forth at other times. Though neither mentioned it, they both suspected that they wouldn't be changing back and forth very often. And that their agreement, just might go on for longer than the school year.

They both looked at the rings on their fingers, smiling. Kevin thought that when he'd gotten the ring as a birthday present, several months ago, who would have known what would result. Mother and son hugged each other, each pleased by their understanding.

The End.

The waking world is but a dream
