Mothers Day Part 4 by Louder

Trina took a break from paying bills and sipped the beverage her son was offering. He claimed it to be water from the Fountain of Youth.

She saw no harm in humoring him for a few moments and drank the offered beverage. Things quickly changed. Now she was a mere child more interested in doll playing rather than bill paying.

Trina's own mother was quickly on the case and soon knew who had furnished Johnny with the magical liquid that had rejuvenated her formerly adult daughter.

Fountain of Youth? They must be scientists...

All she needed to do was reason with them... it had to be an accident... Of course there must be an antidote... right?

Pt 4

Mary adjusted her glasses. Her vision didn’t seem right. Rob and Laura both stared at her which made her feel a bit awkward. She started to speak but quickly forgot what she was going to say. She wondered why she felt so stange all of a sudden.

“How much did you put in there?” she heard Laura ask Rob.

“Enough” he answered.

Mary squinted and tried to focus on the two people sitting across from her. What were they talking about? The strange feeling continued. Her body felt very comfortable. Almost numb. Everything seemed in slow motion. She took another drink from her glass and had trouble raising her hand. It was if she didn’t have any strength.

Mary started feeling dizzy. Her mind was getting cloudy. She looked at the glass in her hand and had a thought... but the thought faded. She couldn’t focus her eyes or her thoughts!

“She never considered the potions were in the ice cubes did she?” Laura asked laughing.

“No, she saw us drinking the same lemonade and figured it was perfectly fine!” Rob replied laughing as well.

Potions? Mary tried to focus her thoughts. What had they done to her? She had a date that night... didn’t she? That didn’t seem right.... No, she thought... she had homework to attend to!

“She looks like she should be in high school now” Laura said as she looked toward Mary.

“Yes... I imagine the other potion is numbing her mind enough she’s probably worried more about prom than worried about anything else.” Rob answered.

Prom!? Mary realized she’d forgotten all about the prom! She didn’t even have a date yet!.... She shook her head trying to clear the cobwebs. Her eyeglasses slid down her nose. What were those two talking about she wondered? It was all so confusing! Words and thoughts seemed to fade in and out. She was getting more and more tired and that wasn’t helping her to concentrate.

Mary noticed her dress feeling loose. Her shoes were also loose. Her glasses wouldn’t stay up. She set the eyeglasses aside. Part of her dizziness immediately cleared. Her glasses must’ve made her dizzy she decided... and then she wondered who’s glasses was she wearing? She didn’t wear glasses! Mary wasn’t sure what was happening but she knew she should get home before her mother worried about her. She tried to stand up but her legs wouldn’t cooperate.

“You think she’s even a sophomore now?” Laura asked Rob.

They’re talking about me like I am not even here Mary thought. That only angered her... after all she wasn’t a sophomore, she’s a junior! She wanted to complain but her body wouldn’t cooperate. She couldn’t seem to concentrate long enough to actually speak what was on her mind.

She kept trying to concentrate and stay focused. Her eyes felt so heavy. What did they say about me being a sophomore she wondered as she tried to stay awake. I WISH I was a sophomore and not some nerdy freshmen!

Mary tilted her head back and took a breath. She kept trying to fight off sleep. She felt her heels rise out of her shoes. She looked back across the table at Rob and Laura. They seemed to be waiting on something as they watched her intently. She had to tilt her head to look into her eyes now.

“Do you want a Teddy Bear?” she heard Laura ask.

“She’s too old for a Teddy Bear!, Laura!” Rob said “She’s got to be 10 or 11 still!”

She tried to tell them she was 11 but then realized that she was 10.... and she wondered what the Teddy Bear looked like? She really was sleepy now. Her shoes dangled off her feet and then both fell to the ground as her legs shortened. She yawned and then rested her head on the table. She couldn’t fight sleep any longer.

“That certainly took a while... Are you sure this is a good idea?” Laura asked

“What is one more child?” Rob asked but didn’t wait for an answer as he scooped up Mary to take here inside. Mary’s dress engulfed her. “The sleep potion will wear off soon enough so we should enjoy this quiet time while we can!”

“I don’t know.. It is just that there will be two rejuvenated adults now... maybe that will cause problems?” Laura asked.

“If it does we can do a mind control spell. Look at Trina though... the youth potion seems to have been plenty” Rob answered. “She’s played all morning”

“Yes... she certainly makes a cute little girl! So sweet too!” Laura said.

“Well, we need to round up the other two” Rob explained.
