The Orphan
By Tazz

Hi, my name is Jasmine, I have been living in this orphanage since I was just a little baby. I had never met parents, I was dropped off at the orphanage and they have never known about my parents and what my real name was. 17 years 9 months and 30 days later Imp still haven’t been adopted and tomorrow is my 18th birthday and according to the city laws after 18 years a person isn’t litigable to be adopted and must be thrown into the streets and they must survive on their own or for some miracle someone wants to adopt that person at age 18 but that has never happened before. Usually parents want to adopt a child that is very young not a teenager. So I have no hopes of ever getting adopted.

The day I had been avoiding had finally come. My 18th Birthday. Of course laws restrict orphanages from just kicking someone out with no money. The orphanage has to give at least $25 to the orphan when they kick them out. That day there was a birthday party and a goodbye party for me wishing me good luck outside the orphanage and then they threw my out and closed the door. To make things even worst they had only given me $20 instead of the usual $25.

“Great what am I going to do with $20.”

I walked for about 2 hours around town until it started to get very cold and I had no where to go. I had no place to eat or sleep. Most likely I would have to sleep out in the cold that night unless I was able to find somewhere to sleep. After walking for an hour it then started to get real cold and there no place in sight to stay but after walking for another 10 minutes she stumbled upon a store called “Problem solved” She had no idea of what she would find in the store but since it was getting very cold and for some reason the store was opened 24 hours a day, she might as well stay in there. When she entered there was no one in sight.

Hello, is it ok if I stay here for a while? She called

No one answered, so she looked around and saw bottles or some strange liquid, some weird objects that she had never seen before.

May I help you Jasmine. Said a voice that came out of no where

What, how did you know my name?

You look like a Jasmine. So is there anything you like?

Not really, I just came in here to get away from the cold.

Why don’t you go home?

I cant, I grew up as an orphan and never was adopted and today is my 18th Birthday…..

And they kicked you out.

Yes.

If you want you can stay here till it gets warmer outside.

That would be very nice.

About a few hours later it began to get warm again outside.

Thanks for letting me stay is there anything I could do to repay you?

It was my pleasure but I do have something in mind.

What?

I want you to buy this bottle for $20

$20 for that! That’s everything I got left.

Help a man out.

Alright.

Jasmine then bought the bottle.

There goes the last of my money. What does it do anyway?

Its very special. It will solve all your problems.

What will it do? Make me rich?

No, even better. But it will only work when you go to the orphanage and when you do just drink it.

Ok, I don’t know what it will do but I hope you are right.

Jasmine then walked out of the little shop and did what he had instructed. She walked to her old orphanage and there she opened the bottle.

You better be right old man that this will solve all my problems.

Jasmine hesitated and took a drink out of the bottle and then she fainted.

Ill be out for a hour or so. Said Rosemary a woman who had worked at the orphanage for years.

As Rosemary opened the door. There by it was a little baby no older then a week old.

Oh what do we have here?

The baby is wrapped in large clothing and the little baby was crying like crazy.

Looks like Charlie did his magic again. Come here sweeties.

Rosemary took the baby into the orphanage gave it warm clothes and food. She then later used the phone.

Hello, Problem Solved, the store that solves all your problems. This is Charlie said the person on the other line.

Charlie, thanks for helping us with Jasmine maybe this time around she will get adopted.

If not we can try to get her to come to my store again and try it again.

True.

Is the potion affected her mind yet?

I believe so.

This has to be the what 5th time we have done this?

Look Charlie we were young when we had her and then and we had no choice but to leave her here. But of course I started working here to keep an eye on her.

I still think it was a bad idea and don’t forget to get your yearly small dosage of the youth potion so we can be alive for a while to see her have a normal life.

I believe so and if she doesn’t get adopted we will regress her again and again till she does and we will live forever till she does.
